Uses: Potassium Sorbate or potassium salt of sorbic acid is made up of unsaturated fatty acids that appear as a powder of white crystals and its main function is to act as a food preservative. It is a mild, fungicidal and bactericidal preservative with high efficacy and safety, recommended by the WHO and the FDA. Sorbates are antimicrobial and antifungal agents capable of delaying or preventing the development of microorganisms such as yeast, bacteria, mold and fungi, mainly thanks to the reduction of water and increased acidity. It also preserves other characteristics such as the taste, texture, color and nutritional value of the foods to which they are added. They can be used in food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and animal feed.
